Born on 3.6.1949.  Graduated from Delhi University and completed LLB from Madhusudan Law College, Cuttack.  Sent to New Jersy, USA for study of the people and institutions of America in 1976 by the Rotary Foundation in the Group Study Exchange Programme.  Enrolled with the State Bar Council of Orissa on 28.3.1974.  Practised in the High Court, Subordinate Courts and Tribunals in Orissa.  Specialised in Commercial Law and Constitutional Law.  Appointed Additional Judge, Orissa High Court on 13.1.1994.  Transferred to the Gauhati High Court on 7.2.1994.  Appointed Permanent Judge, Gauhati High Court in 1995.  Appointed Judge, Orissa High Court on 15.4.2002.  Assumed charge as the Executive Chairman of the Orissa State Legal Services Authority.  Appointed Chief Justice, Chhattisgarh High Court on 14.3.2005 and Chief Justice, M.P. High Court on 3.10.2005.  Appointed Judge, Supreme Court of India on 17.11.2009.  Due to retire on 3.6.2014.
